Es Torrent beach. Set in a very pretty little bay in total privacy, this is a stylish, convivial and delicious seafood restaurant. A well heeled but relaxed bunch dine here. There is sand under your feet when you eat and lovely water for swimming and snorkelling. It is pebbly at the water’s edge so walk carefully getting in, particularly after a glass of Rosado or two. Highly recommended for a special lunch.
Cala d’Hort. In terms of quality of the arroces y paellas this is perhaps the best of the three Cala d’Hort restaurants. It also has stunning views over the sea to Es Vedra, but it doesn’t have easy access to the beach and is in fact a 5 to 10 minute drive inland to link with the main beach. It’s a lovely spot but if a beach restaurant is what you are after then this is not for you. Fantastic for an early dinner.
Curvy roads, pine-clad cliffs and stunning views of blue sea and speckled white yachts will accompany you on your drive down to Cala Vadella, a charming little resort town.
The sandy beach is a reasonable size and the shallow crystalline waters make it a popular choice for families all year round. The decent selection of restaurants looking out to the beach means the kids can play and you can keep an eye from your restaurant chair. For some wonderful fresh fish or paella right on the beach head to Can Jaume (+34 971 808488, www.canjaume.com). Bon Sol is a family focussed restaurant serving pizzas and other tasty, simple dishes (+34 971 808 213, Facebook: Bon Sol).
Tip: If you are feeling active, choose from a variety of water-sports readily available ranging from water skiing to snorkelling and even scuba diving.
A fairy-tale cove enchanting visitors with its raw natural beauty and postcard like views of Es Vedra, a 413m high limestone rock island renown the world over for its magnetic energetic pull. The sandy and pebbly bay of Cala d’hort is very pretty but it is impossible not to be regularly lured into staring at Es Vedra in all its might. Whilst the magnetism of Es Vedra is perhaps island myth, there is no doubting it’s importance in Greek mythology. The island is said to be home to sirens and sea-nymphs, who tried to lure Odysseus from his ship in Homer’s Odyssey.
Declared a National park in the 1990’s to preserve it from construction this fine white-sanded, shallow clear watered beach is popular with families and young couples, local and international. Cala d’hort is famous for its sunsets that can best be viewed from the left-hand section of the beach or from the restaurants. Be sure to arrive early at this as there is limited parking near the beach and it’s a long walk up the hill to the higher cliff top parking at the end of the day.
A very private, protected little oasis of calm waters this horse- shoe shaped beach is situated in between two large extended red clay cliffs and hosts a jetty full of fisherman’s houses. Declared a world heritage site in 1999, it was the first Phoenician settlement on Ibiza in 700BC so you can be sure to get your culture for the day.
Sa Caleta attracts locals and tourists alike. It is popular with families and snorkelers thanks to its tranquil and shallow waters. Keep in mind that this is a small cove with limited wind so during peak summer hours it can get very crowded and often very hot. This is perhaps not your best location for the whole day but it is blissful for a morning or evening swim.
