Easter break in Ibiza is something special. No matter if you are Catholic or not, the Holy Week, or Semana Santa, has something for everybody – from religious processions, ancient statues parades and religious floats, to extravagant nighttime parties.

Easter is said to be the anticipation of the vibrant summer – warm weather, first splash in the sea, some opening parties. So let’s have a look at the events taking place all over the island:

ENJOY GOOD FRIDAY PARADE

The Good Friday parade is one of the highlights of Ibiza religious Easter celebrations. The religious procession takes place through Ibiza town, starting at sunset from the Cathedral in Dalt Vila, when religious effigies are carried around town by procession participants dressed up in traditional Catholic robes, accompanied by drumming and lit by candles through the streets of Ibiza town, stopping at every church. It’s truly a spectacular ceremony to see!

EAT TRADITIONALLY

With a profusion of great restaurants opening before Easter all across the island, food choices are easy, but if you want a real taste of Easter, try the traditional Cuinat. It’s a vegetable stew, cooked only at Easter time and it’s made with a local wild herd of the island. You can find this dish only in the most traditional restaurants on the island, like Can Caus or Ca n’Alfredo.

SHOPPING AT EASTER LAS DALIAS MARKET

if you fancy some shopping, then head up north to San Carlos to check out the Easter Edition of the Las Dalias Hippy Market. Forget about Easter egg hunts and chocolate bunnies, here you can find some unique Easter gifts.

DANCE IN PACHA

Want to dance off some Easter calories? Then, on Saturday the 20th of April, head down to the iconic Pacha and celebrate with Sebastian Gamboa and its Vintage party.
