Christmas is a big deal here in Ibiza where it’s seen first and foremost as a time for family gatherings and old friends. It’s a long holiday starting on the 24th of December and ending on the 6th of January with ‘Fiestas de Los Tres Reyes Magos’ known as ‘The 3 Kings Day’.

CELEBRATION
Christmas in Ibiza is whatever you want it to be – by the sea, in the country, in a restaurant or at home, you just have to decide how you want to celebrate it! Whether you want to get together with your nearest and dearest, cooking a big traditional meal, spending the day singing Christmas carols and soaking up the warm winter sun, or, you prefer going out to party, dress up and dance in Pacha until 7am on Christmas Eve, sleep through the usual Christmas lunch and decide to just go out for a decadent dinner in a restaurant, you’re in the right place.
GASTRONOMY
Food plays an important part in Ibiza tradition any time of the year, but around Christmas, there are certain dishes and ingredients which are even more important. While nut season is coming to an end, you’ll find that the stores fill up with the nut-based treat known as turrón. Salsa de Nadal is the typical dessert, a sweet sauce usually prepared in large quantities to share with loved ones to eat with pound-cake. It is a real temptation if you have a sweet tooth!
