Best Ibiza Restaurants 2020
After what has been a difficult year for many businesses on the Island, the season is now well underway. For the first time in many years Ibiza finds itself without its main attraction, the clubs. But all is not lost, in fact quite the opposite. This year has been the summer of gastronomy. With the Ibiza Restaurant scene across the White Isle busier than ever, many are already fully booked for August. And although this isn’t such a great situation for the more disorganised of us, it is great to see so many of Ibiza’s wonderful restaurants thriving.
With a wealth of great options out there, here are our standout culinary choices for this season.
Jul’s.
As you take your first steps into Jul’s the first thing you will notice is the breathtaking decor, it’s soft amber ambient lighting offsets chic suede and earthy textures to create the perfect setting for its eclectic and magical food .
The cuisine is a journey from Spain to Greece, something easier to do on a plate than in the air at the moment it would seem.
The menu centres around organic, locally sourced products and every dish is about the love of food and great ingredients.
Don’t miss the open fire Charcoal Grilled Meats and the celebrated Lobster and Butternut Squash Risotto.
Start your evening with the intriguingly named “Dance of the Bad Angels” cocktail, a heady mix of Tequila, Mezcal, Cucumber and Chilli, (we can’t take any responsibility for any Bad Angel dancing that may follow) and finish your evening with the perfectly named desert, Emotion Chocolate.
Casa Jondal
Taking over from the popular Es Savina on stunning Cala Jondal is the new chiringuito on the block, Casa Jondal.
Chef Rafa Zafra has returned the building back to its Ibicenco roots, a white washed finca sitting on the beach, where beautiful touches of natural, mismatched, wooden furniture and raw, stripped back fabrics, set the scene for a simple, fresh, utterly delicious seafood menu.
After many years of the “Super Chiringuito” with their Instagramable clients and menus it’s refreshing to see a restaurant going back to Ibizas culinary roots…beautifully simple, fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection.
There can be nothing better than licking your fingers clean from the Islands famous shellfish, whilst sitting by a beach, with the aroma of sun scorched pine trees drifting by. Dishes are available with 2 techniques, choose from Raw Ibicenco Prawn carpaccio or Grilled Red Ibicenco Prawns, both of which are delicious.
And don’t worry there’s plenty of Instagram opportunities, with Cala jondal as your backdrop you can’t help but want to share Ibizas latest hidden gem.
Alma
Port Des Torrent has been overshadowed by San Antonio’s famous sunset strip for the last few years. But if you like to enjoy your sunsets with a relaxed family vibe and a sprinkling of chilled music & dining, then Alma Beach could be your new Sunset Spot.
Add its Oyster and Champagne menu, to the beautiful views out to Illlots de Ponent and your Sunset Experience won’t get any better.
As the more energetic amongst us enjoy a Sunset SUP class or Sunrise Yoga session, feel free to order the sundowner of your choice whilst procrastinating about maybe joining them tomorrow.
Pecador
Pecador in Spanish means sinful and if the new beachside restaurant from The W Hotel in Santa Eularia is anything to go by, then being bad never tasted so good.
Chef Nandu Jubany’s knowledge of popular recipes and a love for their culinary origins, injects the perfect balance of tradition with modern cuisine.
The setting is a blend of straw and sun-bleached palm leaves with a beautiful twist of crisp, cream, cotton and wood. Sitting on the incredible Santa Eularia coastline, it’s the perfect place to soak up some sea views whilst sipping a cold glass of Albariño.
The menu has a wide selection of tapas, try the Sobrasada ecológica con colmena de miel or the croquetas for something lighter or share one of the indulgent paellas if you are feeling more wicked.
