FITUR is Spain’s biggest and most impressive travel fair and trade show – a paradise for anyone who loves to travel! Can you imagine “visiting” nearly every country in the world just in one day? Not to mention that the fair will allow you to discover all sorts of special places in Spain that look incredible. Among those special places there is our little island, Ibiza.
The council of travel of Ibiza every year has its own stand where shows off the best that the island has to offer: culture, gastronomy and its breath-taking landscapes. As we all know Ibiza is pretty famous for its buzzing clubbing scene, but the fun doesn’t all just take place in the famous clubs, and the council’s agenda just prove us right. Ibiza is so much more than a party destination!
Whether you are into music, gastronomy and wine, sports or who knows what, you will always find an event that will fit your taste. Here are some of the unique events you do not want to miss during your stay.
Food Fair
Ibiza is undeniably a foodie heaven, from its Michelin listed restaurants to charming beach restaurants with beautiful sea views and laid-back farm to table dining spots, there is always something delicious to try around the island. It doesn’t stop there as every year, Ibiza hosts numerous food festivals to celebrate the rich culinary tradition and local produce of the island. Some of the unmissable ones are: Ibiza Sabor, held twice a year, Fira des Gerret (a typical type of fish from the island) and the Cuttlefish Gastronomy Festival, both held in March.
Ibiza Medieval
For a few days in May, Dalt Vila and La Marina, the two oldest quarters in the town of Ibiza, are transformed into a medieval marketplace featuring merchants, nobles, dancers and minstrels. This is a grand festival with which the Ibiza Town Council celebrates the declaration of its old town Dalt Vila and the village of sa Caleta, among other places, as World Heritage Sites in 1999.
Ibiza Gay Pride
This international encounter that pays tribute to the LGTBI public is held in the city of Ibiza in June and includes activities to promote and raise awareness of equality and non-discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. There is also a programme with musical performances and a parade of floats.
Music Festival
If you love music, make sure not to miss the “Eivissa Jazz Festival”, held every end of August/beginning of September in the picturesque setting of the historic Dalt Villa. “Sueños de Libertad” is the indie music festival held in June. This year the festival celebrates its 5th year as one of Ibiza’s great cultural events with concerts featuring renowned national and international artists, urban art and activities for children.
