Ibiza is famous for its beaches (playas) and coves (calas), there are over 50 in fact, but there are some which are better suited to families. From any of our Ibiza holiday villas you can reach all these beaches in under 45 minutes. That’s pretty amazing – there’s nowhere like this in the Med. Here are our recommendations of the best beaches for families, each with a recommended restaurant nearby to complete your day by the sea:
Family beaches
Talamanca Becah
Talamanca Beach features a long stretch of golden sand in a very calm shallow bay making it ideal for children. It is the closest beach to Ibiza and has a semi city beach vibe – very laid back. If you’re having lunch there we recommend Shu Ibiza for a nice family Mediterranean menu with Italian flavour, or, after a day on the beach, have dinner at Sa Punta, which offers Mediterranean dishes with fantastic views over the bay to Ibiza old town, perfect for enjoying a sunset meal.
Cala Tarida
Cala Tarida has several hotels and restaurants and offers stunning turquoise waters and shallow conditions, making it a great choice for families. Head to Cotton Beach for a stylish setting and spectacular sea views for either lunch or dinner. For families with older braver kids, swim out 50m to the rock pillar for some jumping thrills. NB always check the water depth before you jump to check it’s safe! villa Can Sankisha is only a 7 minute drive.
Cala Bassa
Cala Bassa is known for its crystal-clear calm waters and soft sand, perfect for children to play and swim. It’s a well-equipped beach with sunbeds and water sports. For a high quality family meal, visit Cala Bassa Beach Club, which offers beachside dining under the shade of the sabina trees and great views over the bay. Villa Can Elvi is only a 5 minute drive.
Ses Salines
The iconic Ses Salines is a long, sandy beach with shallow waters on Ibiza's south- east tip and is ideal for families. The beach also features a range of facilities, including dingy sailing and several chic restaurants including Beso Beach and the newly opening Noho Beach. For families our recommendatuon is to head to Jockey Club a beachfront restaurant where you can enjoy a varied Mediterranean menu and a laid-back atmosphere. Rumours are that it has just been sold so we hope it continues with the same vibe …let’s see ! Villa Can D’Alt is 8 minutes away.
Cala Nova
Cala Nova is a quiet and peaceful sandy beach in the north east of the island with clear, shallow waters, making it ideal for families with young children. Occasionally there are waves here which are great for body surfing but be careful with the very little ones. The beach has a relaxed, friendly vibe, and for a great meal, visit Aiyana, a beachside restaurant offering delicious fresh food and a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for families to enjoy together. Villa Can Carabasso is a 15 mnute drive.
Buen provecho !
