Kids Activities

If the kids don’t quite have the same love for long lunches and lounging by the pool with a good book then here are a few ideas to keep the little ones entertained;

Try out one of Ibiza’s fun-filled waterparks. Aguamar, located at Playa d’en Bossa provides a playground of multicolored slides for all levels and even some foam slides for the younger children. You could even pack a picnic and make a half-day out of it as there is plenty of space on the lawn and convenient locker rooms. There is another good water park on the west coast, near San Antonio, at Port d’es Torrent called Sirenis Aquagames. There are good slides but not much space for the parents to relax. A fun hour or two nonetheless.

If the kids are feeling like a more inflatable water experience then head to Ocean Mania in San Antonio bay where you will find a giant inflatable obstacle course in the sea. You can challenge yourself to get across free-moving bridges, climbing towers, swinging ropes, trampolines etc without taking a plunge. This is for kids of all ages over 5 who are decent swimmers. If you go with little ones a strong adult should accompany them. It’s a really good fun way to spend an hour, and a fairly tiring one! The Surf Lounge is alongside it so you could visit both in one go.

The aquarium Cap Blanc just north of San Antonio is located in a 370m2 natural cave. As the children walk along the pathway they will be greeted by an array of Mediterranean species, colorful fish, marine turtles , octopus etc. Things to keep in mind; it is best for young kids since the space is small . It’s a charming place but very local and would win no global aquarium award. So, best that you plan a short visit, but there is a little restaurant attached which is a pretty spot from where you should try a plate of their delicious sardines, cooked in the evening. Check opening times before visiting. Closed in winter.

Nearing the Port of San Miguel are caves that were once used as a place to store contraband. The walls are still intact and now lit up using semi spooky neon colors to accentuate the backdrop. Little kids will love the 10m cascade of water best displayed during the guided Light and Music show. As you climb to the very top of the stairs along the cliff walls you will surely marvel in the amazing sea views. Keep going till you reach the top and refresh at the café.

Situated in a natural park of pine trees between Es Canar and Santa Eularia this Acrobosc park provides climbing fun for the whole family. Providing varying levels and climbing circuits this is an outdoor adventure in which you can all participate. There is a basic bar for snacks and free parking across the street. Real dusty fun, best enjoyed in very casual wear.

If the kids are looking for some faster fun then head to one of Ibiza’s two Go Karting venues. Zoom around the tracks at Ibiza Karting located in San Antonio and/or play in the kid zone that has a trampoline and pool. Tel: +34 971 343 805. If you are on the other side of the island then head to the Santa Eularia Go Karts where you will find a 300 metre long circuit, a snack bar, and a range of games to play in between rides.

There are a number of decent stables and riding schools on the island. The Horse Country Club in Santa Gertrudis Tel: +34 616 533 691, or Can Mayans +34 690 922 144 between Santa Gertrudis and San Lorenzo are good places for all levels of rider; adult or child. For a more low key location for kids classes then there is Club Hipico Ibiza Horses near Porroig on Ibiza’s south coast. It is a nice, friendly and simple place and is close to many of our villas. Speak with Pilar the owner on +34 646 500 691.

Ibiza might have terrible waves for surfing in the sea but if you want the closest thing to catching a wave get down to The Surf Lounge on San Antonio’s south bay. There is a decent family restaurant (great burgers etc) and loads of space to lounge, so the parents can be comfortable when the kids are wiping out on the wave machine for a couple of hours.

The offering can vary a bit each season but try El Chiringuito on the lovely Es Cavallet beach +34 971 39 53 55,
and Tanit beach club at the (much prettier) south end of Playa D’en Bossa +34 971 39 57 44. So, hopefully that long lunch really can happen without too many interruptions!
