Waterparks

Try one of Ibiza’s fun filled waterparks. The island’s largest is on the west coast near San Antonio at Port d’es Torrent called Sirenis Aquagames. There are some very good slides for the whole family to have fun, although there is not that much space for the parents to relax while the kids are playing. There is another small water park on the east coast, near Portinatx, called Sandos El Greco.

Aquarium

The aquarium Cap Blanc just north of San Antonio is located in a 370m² natural cave. As the children walk along the pathway they will be greeted by an array of Mediterranean species, colourful fish, marine turtles, octopus etc. Things to keep in mind; it is best for young kids since the space is small. It’s a charming place but very local and would win no global aquarium award. So, best that you plan a short visit, but there is a little restaurant attached which is a pretty spot from where you should try a plate of their delicious sardines, cooked in the evening. Check opening times before visiting. Closed in winter.

Can Marca Caves

Nearing the Port of San Miguel are caves that were once used as a place to store contraband. The walls are still intact and now lit up using semi spooky neon colors to accentuate the backdrop. Little kids will love the 10m cascade of water best displayed during the guided Light and Music show. As you climb to the very top of the stairs along the cliff walls you will surely marvel in the amazing sea views. Keep going till you reach the top and refresh at the café.

Go Karting

If the kids are looking for some faster fun then head to one of Ibiza’s two Go Karting venues. Zoom around the tracks at Ibiza Karting located in San Antonio and/or play in the kid zone that has a trampoline and pool. If you are on the other side of the island then head to the Santa Eularia Go Karts where you will find a 300 metre long circuit, a snack bar, and a range of games to play in between rides.

Horse Riding

There are some decent horse riding schools on the island, but Can Mayans offers a really good for kids experiences. Based on the horsemanship technique they’ll guide children to win each others trust before the horse riding begins. If you are going with more kids they can even organise a little kids party where the kids can dress up like Indians and will go horse riding on nice little ponies.

For traditional pony riding lessons also try Cuadras Es Puig on the edge of Santa Gertrudis (+34 679 20 99 25, www.cuadrasespuig.com).

Bam Bu Ku by O Beach

Ibiza might have terrible waves for surfing in the sea but if you want the closest thing to catching a wave get down to BAM-BU-KU Surf Lounge on San Antonio’s south bay. There is a decent family restaurant (great burgers etc) and loads of space to lounge, so the parents can be comfortable when the kids are wiping out on the wave machine for a couple of hours.

Beach Clubs With Kids Clubs

The offering can vary a bit each season but try El Chiringuito on the lovely Es Cavallet beach and Tanit Beach Club at the (much prettier) south end of Playa D’en Bossa. So, hopefully that long lunch really can happen without too many interruptions!
